Living aboard

Nothing very exciting to report so far but here are a few notes.

We've now been living aboard for 2 weeks and even though we're looking forward to leaving for New York in a few days, we have to get used to this new lifestyle. Yes a boat is comfortable but one tends to miss the  luxury of facilities such as a washer & dryer. Also, energy management always has to be kept in mind. Although we produce our own electricity, watch a movie and you'll quickly empty your batteries. Just making my cup of coffee in the morning requires looking out for the microlog. It's even worst on a cloudy day with no wind (like right now) : charge = 0.

We also take space for granted in our homes.  Moving around in the sailboat means climbing steps 100 times a day, bending over, stepping over, crawling into spaces you wouldn't try to go into normally. Usually if you need an item, all you have to do is open a drawer or a cupboard. At the moment, remembering where I put a can of maple syrup is a challenge. Right now all foodstuffs is scattered behind benches and under floor boards. I definitely need to do the inventory!

There are still enough projects to keep us busy before the departure but we're looking forward to officially taking off and taking plenty of pictures to share with everyone.

  1. Hang on... et ne te décourage pas, quand tu reviendras au bout de ce long voyage, c'est au condo que tu te chercheras !!! :) Tu auras surement tendance à regarder sous les sofas pour trouver tout !!! :)))
En plus, tu seras tellement en forme !!! Gym inclus dans le voyage, IMAGINE !
